  • Ilian Evtimov is recovering well from his second knee surgery. This one was much less serious than the last one, but you have to be worried about a guy with two different knee injuries this early in his career.

  • Jones In

    Marion Jones is going to make the trip to Athens afterall, after winning the long jump at the Olympics Trials. She won by nearly a foot. Maybe she’s not washed up after all.

  • Terry Holland is leaving The University of Virginia after a long career there. He was coach for 16 years (their most successful one), AD and then fundraiser for the new basketball arena. Terry’s always been a class act. Good luck to him in the future.

  • Shaq And Boozer

    I’ve been meaning all week to write up something on the Shaq and Boozer stories. They are both very interesting sports business stories. They involve negotiation, intrigue, betrayal and hope.   • Greg Doyel has a pretty scathing and informative look into the NCAA’s investigation of Missouri. The NCAA comes off as a bunch of Keystone Kops.

  • The Big Planet

    Now that Shaq’s in Miami, lots of other players want to be there too. They’re calling Pat Riley on the phone begging to be part of the team. They want the open shots. They want the defensive help. They want the media attention. And mostly, they want the titles.

  • Looks like Huggy Bearcat will be back on the sidelines when the Cincinatti basketball season starts. His indefinite suspension for that ugly DUI last month will end on September 1. That’ll teach him.

  • BC anticipates a tough final year in the Big East. Evidently, and this is pretty shocking, the other schools might hold it against BC that it’s leaving the conference. Who could have guessed? Fortunately for BC, they’ll be in the ACC next year, where they’ll fit right in. Oh wait …
