  • Pete Gillen is remaining pretty upbeat for a guy who’s under considerable pressure. He says the upcoming John Paul Jones arena is already helping recruiting. Just wait until the Jimmy Page Center is completed!

  • The little bastards may be able beat me in scrabble, but at least I can spell Krzyzewski.

  • UNC received a committment from top 20 recruit Bobby Frasor. Frasor is a point guard and may have to come in and start right away if Felton goes pro after next season.

  • The Hurricanes have been losing money ever since they came to Carolina (and for years before, too). Now, they are looking for a huge line of credit, putting up everything they own as collateral. Doesn’t sound too good to me.

  • Deng Done

Luol Deng is hiring an agent, officially ending his college career. It’s no big surprise, of course, as he is projected as a top three pick.

  • Another sprinter has been targeted by the USADA for her connections to BALCO. There are no positive test results (yet), but there is a lot of circumstantial evidence pointing to drug use by Michelle Collins, a one-time training partner of Marion Jones. Collins trains here in Raleigh, just like Jones and Tim Montgomery.

  • This is pretty nutty. An episode of HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm helped free a man from murder charges. They were filming at a Dodger game that the man attended and he happened to be in the background, proving his alibi.

  • Michael Southall has all but ruined his chance at basketball stardom. Let this be a lesson to JamesOn Curry.

  • Here is a nice little article on star UNC recruit Marvin Williams. With so many high school players going to the NBA (or at least declaring for the draft), Williams may be the best freshman in the country next year.

  • I should have posted this earlier today. Syracuse beat Navy in a damn good lacrosse title game. Navy gave a surprisingly good fight, but couldn’t quite knock off the Orange(men).
