    UNC lost its slight chance of still getting JR Smith when he signed with agent Arn Tellem. According to Smith, “The (high school) all-star games convinced me that I have what it takes to play in the NBA.” Great thinking there.

    Stanford basketball coach Mike Montgomery is reportedly going to be the next coach of the Golden State Warriors. That is an odd move. He’s a great college coach, but I can’t think of a more jarring transition. From Stanford to the NBA? Wow.
