Since that story was published, local media have picked up on it and asked Bill Self about it. Bill Self’s reply? “We did not hire Kurtis to get C.J. At Kansas, you don’t hire a guy to get a player.”

Really?
You mean like Danny Manning’s father? I’m sure it was an impressive interview that convinced Larry Brown to hire a truck driver as an assistant coach. I’m sure the fact that his son was one of the best players in the country had nothing to do with it. Hey, it worked out though, as Danny and The Miracles won a National Championship for Kansas.
