NC State is installing hydraulic goal posts at Carter-Finley stadium. These goal posts can be automatically collapsed in a few minutes. The goal is to avoid mobs of fans tearing down the goal posts and invariably injuring each other. Actually, I’m sure the goal is to avoid lawsuits.
It’s too bad it had to come to this, but it’s gotten to the point where almost any home victory results in a tearing down the posts.
The weird thing about the story is that evidently Duke is planning on installing these as well. Duke? Is that really an issue for them? They rarely have enough fans to actually pull goal posts down in the rare event of a home win.
