  • More On Five Years Of Eligibility

    July 20, 2004
    General

The SportsProf wrote a post today about the proposed NCAA changes. He doesn’t like the five year rule, as he thinks it would set a bad academic example; it would lower the bar. The five years of eligibility sends a bad message if it gives kids five years on the floor. That shouldn’t happen. Given…

  • Kornheiser on Tiger, Els and Phil

    July 20, 2004
    Quick Links

Tony Kornheiser says the obvious, that Tiger’s no longer The Man on tour. He points out that both Els and Mickelson are currently outplaying him and have at least matched El Tigre over the last several years. Tony also expresses his grattitude for Phil’s less-than-stellar everyman physique.

  • Maryland Says No, Virginia Tech Says Yes

    July 20, 2004
    Quick Links

Maryland denied admission to one of their football recruits, Culpeper, VA standout Kent Hicks. Fortunately for Hicks, Virginia Tech’s standards aren’t so lofty, so they accepted him. It’s nice to know that the ACC now has its own fallback schools.

  • Collapsable Goal Posts At State

    July 20, 2004
    Quick Links

NC State is installing hydraulic goal posts at Carter-Finley stadium. These goal posts can be automatically collapsed in a few minutes. The goal is to avoid mobs of fans tearing down the goal posts and invariably injuring each other. Actually, I’m sure the goal is to avoid lawsuits. It’s too bad it had to come…

  • All Rolls Royce

    July 19, 2004
    Quick Links

First off, I apologise for linking to a Dick Vitale article. I have good reason this time. He’s listing his All Rolls Royce teams for next year. In typical Vitale style, he lists five teams. The interesting thing to me is that of his top six guards, five play in the ACC. Of his top…

  • Katz: Preseason Hoops Top 50

    July 19, 2004
    Quick Links

Andy Katz has a preason top 50 NCAA hoops teams out. Wake Forest is #1, UNC is #2 and Georgia Tech is #4. Overall, the ACC has four in the top ten, five in the top 25 and eight in the top 50. It’s going to be a hell of a year!

  • ACC Media Guide Available

    July 19, 2004
    Quick Links

The ACC has put the 2004 ACC Football Media Guide online in PDF format. It’s absolutely chock full of info. I’m impressed and thankful that they put something like this out for free.

  • Mon Dieu!

    July 16, 2004
    Quick Links

This is just ugly. American racing legend Greg Lemond has once again accused Lance Armstrong of doping. Lemond made similar comments three years ago. Now, he says that Armstrong called him after the last time and threatened Lemond. Either Lance Armstrong is a cunning, manipulative cheater or Greg Lemond is a jealous, petty lier. Neither…
